What I'm up to right now

Last Updated: 2026-02-28

Tech Projects

  • Hardening the security of my Homelab and working towards a repository that is clean enough to make public - this has been ongoing for quite a while.
  • Building a portfolio processing front end for Ghostfolio in Rust - this has been stalled because my data provider (SimpleFIN) is having intractable problems with my main brokerage.

Life

  • More time blogging about what I’m doing, somewhat to help others but also just to help remember what I’ve done and appreciate small accomplishments.
  • Raising the kids - its a full-time job
  • Training for the OKC Memorial Marathon - sadly I’ve had to downgrade to the the half-marathon because my training stalls due to poor sleep (if the baby doesn’t sleep then you don’t sleep).
  • Trying to change my outlook on AI - the bubble will surely burst, but the fundamental tech is here and we have to learn to embrace each new tool for its strengths.

Books

  • Dungeon Crawler Carl – Matt Dinniman
  • Enshittification - Cory Doctorow

Games

  • Sea of Stars – I got a SteamDeck recently and have been really enjoying the versatility of playing PC games where ever I go.
  • Xonotic – This really scratches that throwback itch for old school Quake/Unreal FPS action.
  • Warhammer 40K – My poor Blood Angels have been sitting on the shelf for a bit, but I’m trying to get back to it.
